Just decaled the front and rear wing elements. Decal quality is not bad, but the sponsor logo size seems a bit too big. I will let them dry for few days and then apply clearcoat.
Long weekend coming.. need to go outside to have some fun....

Ok, make some progress on the front and rear wing. I start painting the front and rear wing elements.Heavy masking with Tamiya masking tape.

2 wet coats of Tamiya TS49 bright red straight out of spray can. Since this is 1/12 big scale, it is faster to use spray can directly.

Rear wing end plate. The 1st layer went wrong because the paint was almost used up in the can and not enough pressure. As a result, heavy orange peel formed. I sand them down with 2000 grits sandpaper and you can see the difference in this pic. After that, 2nd layer of wet coat goes on and it is ready for decal and clearcoat.

Ok, I leave all parts in the box for drying for a week. I don't use dehydrator to speed up the drying on this one because the resin tends to wrap, even at around 120F.

Some progress on the F1-2000 front and rear wing. After a tough week of filling and sanding, parts are finally ready to be primed. Here are a little WIP descriptions.
Rear wing end plate: inside mount are filled with polyester putty. This mount just has no use during the test fitting.

Sanding with 800 grits after automotive gray primer is put on. Any imperfections are spotted, it has to be filled, re-primed and sanded again. It took me 3 cycles to do the same process.... Gee MG casting is extremely bad comparing to Studio 27 offering.

Now the lower rear wing element is sprayed with Tamiya TS29 semi gloss black and smoothened down with 1000 grits sandpaper. It is ready for CF decaling. The CF decal comes with the kit. Pattern wise, it is a bit too coarse, but I stick with it.

2 coats of Tamiya white primer are put on. For the upper rear wing element and front wing, I will put one more layer of white primer on in the middle of this week. I will keep the white primer base as the base color rather than using the decal from the kit. I will then leave the primer to complete cure before masking and spraying bright red color.
